Utah Office Staff

Laura Chabries

SLC Director of Operations

Laura worked in Educational Fields for 20 years, teaching youth, training teachers and writing curriculum. She was President of a CA teacher’s union, a Lead Union Negotiator as well as a National Writing Project presenter. Although a fellow for Harvard’s “Project Zero,” an honoree for the Random House teacher of the millennium, and a consultant for Bay Area science integration, her humanitarian trips to Russia, Fiji, Africa and South America convinced her to step into humanitarian work with both feet.

Chris Jensen

Project Director

After living two years in northern Chile, working with many low income communities on a mission for the LDS Church, Chris saw tremendous challenges faced by the poor in Latin America. Since then, he has dedicated himself to understand poverty and to empower low income families Latin America, and the U.S. to overcome it. He received his BA in International Studies with an emphasis in Latin America and Development from California State University, Long Beach. Upon his return, Chris worked for several years in low-income Latino communities in Orange and LA Counties in after-school mentoring and as a disability services coordinator. After living in Peru with his wife helping to establish an after-school program in a rural community for needy children, Chris became part of the ECH team. Chris has a great love for the people of Latin America and loves working with an organization whose mission is to eradicate poverty and lift peoples’ lives.
